Don't just take our word for it, listen to what our former players have to say!!
My name is Ally Holt and I am former Magic volleyball player and coach for the club. I graduated from Tecumseh High School in 2014 and I played for Club Magic for 5 years and coached for Magic for 4 more years. Club Magic was and is my second family for me. I will never forget the amount of love and support that Mike and Sarah have shown me over the years, even after I was no longer playing and coaching for them. One of my favorite things about Magic was the closeness of all the teams, no matter the age difference and the end of the season banquet. I loved the team bonding experiences outside of practices. I attended Kaplan University right after high school to become a Medical Assistant and then worked for a Podiatrist office for 7 years. I am currently working as a CSR for Taylor Promo Marketing, and place custom orders for several different hospitals. My end goal is to continue my college education and get my degree in nursing. I am the mother of a beautiful 8 year old son named Jordan.
I graduated high school in 2011 and played JV volleyball as a freshman, and the remaining three years on varsity. During the winter months of my sophomore through senior year I traveled and played on Magic’s team for Mike & Sarah. To this day they are still my favorite coaches by far. During my time on their team, they really helped me come out of my shell as a player and helped me improve my skills to utilize my talent as a hitter. I’m grateful for their passion and love for the game, as well as for everything they taught me during my school years. I love them both very much.
I am still a very active volleyball player and have been ever since graduating in 2011. I spend the spring, summer, and fall months playing competitive women’s quads sand volleyball at Setters in Dayton. I am married to the love of my life and a momma to two beautiful girls, Willow, and Kinsley, who bring us so much joy and keep us on our toes.
I now run my own small crafting business, Craft-E Designs, LLC (on Facebook), making everything from apparel to other handmade crafts, gifts, and everything in between. In addition, I am also a HR coordinator for a non-profit mental health services company.
I consider myself to be very blessed to have met Mike & Sarah when I did and for their volleyball club. It has helped make me who I am today.
I graduated from Bellbrook High School in 2018 and played volleyball all 4 years there. I had played with Club Magic for 4 years. I loved playing with Magic. Although I played club volleyball for 2 years before finding Magic, it wasn’t until I played for Magic that I found a team that I gelled with. The tournaments days from my 14’s team especially, have been some of my fondest memories. My team and I enjoyed hanging out together between the matches and played hard on the court. End of seasons bbq’s were always a great way to wrap up the season and reflect on everything we accomplished together.
I am currently in my 2nd year of medical school at the University of Cincinnati.
Note: added by Sarah Roush – Eva was the only player we had coached that played a “dual season” for 3 years. As a 14 year old, she guest played (starting setter) all season with the 16’s too, as a 15 year old she guest played and started (starting setter) with the 17’s which included getting to, and winning gold in the tournaments, and as an 18 year old, (starting setter), led her team to gold medals that season as well.
My time at Magic was amazing. I’ve never walked into a club before and felt welcomed until Magic. Mike and Sarah were always there for me when I needed guidance in life or volleyball. I only spent two years with them, but I wish I could’ve spent more. Throughout my time I met some of my best friends and I couldn’t imagine playing without them. After high school I am now attending The University of Cincinnati graduating within the next year while majoring in Athletic Training.
I was fortunate to begin playing for Magic as a 7th grader and found my club volleyball home immediately. I continued to play for Magic all the way through high school and made amazing friends and wonderful memories. Some of my favorite Magic memories include going to Regionals in Columbus (and winning Gold with my 17s team) and Mike and Sarah surprising me by coming to my school games during club offseason. A good experience with Magic created a lifelong love for volleyball. My competitive volleyball days may be over now, but I still enjoy playing recreationally.
I graduated from Tecumseh High School in 2020 and played volleyball all 4 years while there. I was with Club Magic for 5 years and then played college volleyball at Clark State. Magic is not just a volleyball program. It is family. From practice and tournaments to campfires and ice cream, from smiles and laughter to sadness and tears, Mike and Sarah have been there. This environment is what has shaped me into who I am today, and I will forever be so grateful for the endless memories and never-ending love & support. My advice is to try not to hit Mike in the face with a volleyball like I did a time or two! LOL!! Thank you for the endless memories and support!
I am currently working on my real estate license and live in New Carlisle for now.
My name is Lexi Bukiewicz (Cogan) and I graduated from Carroll High School in 2015. I played Magic volleyball starting at U13 all the way through high school. Magic volleyball was truly a family. I had the best experience and learned so much every year. Sarah and Mike were the best role models and coaches still to this day. I am so grateful to have been a part of this program and highly recommend it to everyone!
I am currently a first-grade teacher. I live in Beavercreek, OH with my husband and two dogs. I still love to play volleyball and play every week at Setters in Dayton!
My name is Mackenzie King, (aka Mad Maxx). I graduated from Centerville High School in 2020 and I am currently a senior at Ohio State University majoring in Environmental Science and specializing in water science. I plan to graduate from OSU in the spring of 2024. While in high school, I played for Magic for 3 years, although I wish I could have found Magic sooner. Mike and Sarah gave me a chance when no one else would and they allowed me to continue to play the sport I love and am passionate about. One of my favorite memories was my first tournament with Magic (Katie Kennedy was on my team too!) at Positively Charged and Club Magic pulled a double gold win when we won GOLD that day as a 16’s team along with Mike & Sarah’s 18’s who also won gold, too. Seeing the absolute love and support from Mike and Sarah, along with my teammates made me realize I had found the club I was meant to be in, as well as they type of family, I always wanted to be a part of. Thank you to Magic for not only giving me unforgettable memories, but also a forever family.
Graduation year: May 2024
How long with Magic: 4 years
Coach Sarah and Mike were such huge mentors in my life. My first year with Magic was my freshman year of high school, and I was a very nervous, shy girl who was still discovering her love for volleyball. Mike and Sarah helped me so much in getting out of that shell. They pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me become a better player every year I was with them. My love for volleyball came from the passion and love they have for the sport. While they taught me so many volleyball skills, it was also so much more than that. They taught me how to be a leader both on and off the court and prepared me with life lessons I will still carry with me today. I will hold the memories I made with Club Magic with me forever from going to all day tournaments, get-togethers at Mike and Sarah’s house, and hanging out with great friends and players.
I am now living in Columbus, OH getting ready to graduate from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology.
I played for Magic for 3 years. The reason I have stayed with Magic for so long is because of the love and support I got from Sarah and Mike throughout my learning experience. I am now a college athlete, and it is all because of Sarah and Mike. My favorite memories from this club were all the tournaments including the medals we won at Regionals, and all the concession food!
I graduated from Carroll High School in 2023 and I am starting my freshman year at Miami University- Middletown Campus majoring in early education. I will be playing volleyball for Coach Holly Holtzman at Miami U and am really looking forward to the season starting. During my down time I am learning the trade of a nail technician and am enjoying working with my clients.
We were with Club Magic for 3 years. The coaching is awesome! They care about the girls on and off the court. We had a great time at all the tournaments where the girls learned it takes a team to be successful and winning bronze is just as awesome as winning gold. Even if you don’t win a bracket, you still learned from the experience. Everyone has a role to help the team be successful. My daughter learned respect, discipline, teamwork, dedication, spirit, and had so much fun! She made wonderful friendships. I highly recommend this club to any young lady who loves volleyball and is committed to be the best they can be.
My name is Tori Hart, or Mighty Mouse as Mike would call me, and I played for Magic in both my junior and senior years of high school. During my club years, I played for several different teams but never felt like I truly clicked with one until I found Magic and played under Mike and Sarah! With this team, I made some of my favorite memories including winning a tournament against a very tough team after only getting two hours of sleep due to prom being the night before and both the 16’s and 18’s teams winning their brackets at the same tournament. Through this team, I not only found friends on the court, but friends and support through life. Mike and Sarah continue to play a big role in my life even after my time with Magic ended. Mike walked me down the aisle at my wedding, both were present at my White Coat Ceremony which started my journey through vet school, and they helped my husband and I get settled in our new home. I am now a second-year veterinary student at the University of Tennessee and live in Knoxville full time with my husband, Andy. I am beyond grateful for the time I had playing for Magic and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
